Overview:
General George S. Patton's Third Army was making progress through southern France, but momentum was beginning to slow due to shortages in fuel and ammunition. The French 2nd Armored Division (2ème Division Blindée) and its Groupement tactique de Langlade commanded by Colonel Paul de Langlade pushed through a gap in the German lines near Prez-sous-Lafauche and into the German rear, liberating the town of Vittel and moving further east to Dompaire. German High Command recognized the threat and scrambled to deal with it. The recently formed Panzer-Brigade 112 was in the area preparing for a counterattack into Patton's right flank. With no other forces available, the Brigade assembled for the attack even as one panzer battalion was trapped outside Dompaire. With its sister battalion cornered, Panzer-Abteilung 2112 moved to break the encirclement with an attack towards Ville-sur-Illon.Attacker: German (Panzergrenadier-Regiment 2112, Panzer-Abteilung 2112, and Aufklärungs-Abteilung 2112, Panzer-Brigade 112)
