Overview:
During the afternoon of May 22nd, the 1st battalion of the 85th Gebirgsjager Regiment had tried to outflank the New Zealander positions around Modion and Point 259 by traversing the mountains to ctah the defenders by surprise. This did not happen and the New Zealanders and Greek defenders put up a tenacious defense that stopped the German advance cold. The Germans fell back and regrouped ad then attacked again. During the final attack, the 1st/100th Regiment supported the 1st/85th Regiment.Attacker: German (Battalions 1 and 2, Gebirgsjäger Regiment 85, and Battalion 1, Gebirgsjäger Regiment 100, Gebirgs Division 5)
