Overview:

German forces had given up positions east of Baranovichi and withdrew into the city, which they were turning into a strongpoint. The Russian 1st Mechanized Corps was ordered to pursue the enemy into the city and capture the railroad junction by 3 July, while other units were ordered to capture towns around Baranovichi. The advances of the 1st Mechanized Corps, which had not yet seized its objectives even by 5 July, was checked by Panzer Division 4. Field Marshal Zhukov berated General Batov on the evening of 7 July and 'suggested' that Batov monitor the battle from a much more forward position.

2020-11-11(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval Russian winUsed German Balance.Forward German defenders were quickly overwhelmed. Russians did waste precious time & material confirming forward VC Row-house buildings were truly clear for Control since HIP was not discovered until later on,but had just enough time to help final thrust for victory.
2020-11-11(D) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval Russian winRussian win in the last CC roll @7or less. Germans were dominated throughout more or less.
2020-10-27(D) Dwayne Duval vs Richard Webb German winIlluminating Rounds 2020 Semi Final.
The Germans did a good job of falling back to the rear victory condition buildings despite being ineffective at harassing the Russians forward progress. Effective OBA continually hampered German efforts to set up any defenses opposite the Russians as they continued rearward. Some last minute skulking further preserved the German force for the last turn onslaught resulting in a broken upstairs unit gaining the win due to the ground floor CC in the final CCPh.
2020-10-27(A) Richard Webb vs Dwayne Duval German wingreat play by Dwayne, preserved his force so that I just didnt have enough to get into the last CCs.
Iron cross (posthumous) to Dwayne's 150mm IG crew who held out in melee for 3 turns. Extra borscht ration for the russian sgt manning the radio so effectivly, and off to a penal battalion for the squad that threw their DC but forgot to arm it so it was a dud
2020-10-21(D) David Ramsey vs Jean-Yves Tessier German winIlluminating Rounds 2020: Semi Final.

This is a great scenario, challenging and gives lots of toys to play with - especially the Russians. They have a tough job, liberating 2 sets of row-houses and a factory, but they have time, unit quality and numbers on their side.

This one might be slightly pro-Russian. I personally think there are perhaps 2-3 too many Russian squads and the balance does very little to help the German but if the more experienced player takes the defence this scenario can offer a lot of choices and a lot of play - including OBA, flame-throwing tanks, breaching DCs, massive ISUs and HMGs all round.

Our game came down to the last turn, where a broken unit cowered upstairs defended gallantly by a brave squad who stood up to a 3-1 CC attack, knowing whatever happened, he'd saved the day by preventing the elimination of the complete German force.
