Overview:
After weeks of bluster and buildup, the Red Army erupted across the Finnish border just a few miles north and west of Leningrad. The weight and ferocity of the attack, despite the fact that it was long expected, took the Finns off balance and the border guards, having never seen tanks fell back in a panic. In order to allow the main defensive line (later to become known as the Mannerheim Line) time to become fully invested, the Finnish plan was to fight a number of delaying actions and destroy all shelter in the areas given up. The first such village was the small, somewhat decrepit seaside resort of Terijoki. As the border guards streamed ahead of the advancing Soviet 109th Rifle Division, the 1st Jäger Regiment began torching buildings and organizing the panicked border guards for a delaying fight.Attacker: Russian (109th Rifle Division)
