Overview:
The Russians renewed their attack on the Karelian Isthmus in early February. Heavy artillery bombardments, including direct fire from 203mm howitzers, softened the defenses for ten days. The Finns rotating units and on 10 February, the 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment comprised the defenses in the Lahde sector. The Sj5 "Millionaire" bunker on the west flank was defended by 4th Company, led by LT Ericsson. The Sj4 "Poppius" bunker, about a kilometer to the east, was defended by 6th Company. Sj5 dominated the left flank of the Russian attack, and had to be destroyed. The Russian 123rd Rifle Division had been entrenched since December, awaiting the order to attack. Reinforced with elements of the 20th Heavy Tank Brigade and the 35th Light Tank Brigade, it attacked on 11 February.Attacker: Russian (Reinforced 245th Rifle Regiment, 123rd Rifle Division)
