Overview:
The 11ème Regiment Etranger d'Infanterie had been hastily raised in North Africa in late 1939 from 2500 Veteran Foreign Legionnaires completed with 500 draftees from other French units. The regiment was incorporated into the 6ème Division d'Infanterie Nord Africaine. It was stationed behind the Maginot Line and received its baptism of fire as a unit in the Inor Wood where they took position on the 20th of May. On the 27th of May, the Germans made their last attempt to breach the French line, throwing several regiments against the legionnaires.Attacker: German (Elements of Infanterie-Regiment.220, 68.Infanterie-Division)
