Overview:

As the vanguard for the XLVII Panzer Corps, the 2nd and 116th Panzer Divisions slipped northwest of Bastogne on 22 December 1944. Fighting through stiff American resistance in numerous locations and hampered by the lack of fuel, by 23 December the lead elements of 2nd Panzer reached Buissonville - six miles to the west of Marche and lying directly along the road to Dinant and its bridge over the Meuse River. General der Panzertruppen von Lüttwitz, XLVII Panzer Corps commander, ordered the 2nd Panzer Division’s commander, General Lauchert, to leave only blocking forces at key positions and continue his advance. At the forefront of the 2nd Panzer, Kampfgruppe Böhm raced forward and reached Celles on 24 December; the 2nd Panzer reconnaissance Battalion slightly ahead, in and around the small village of Foy-de-Notre Dame. By this time, significant American forces were assembling along both flanks of the German advance forces. Elements from the 2nd Armored Division’s CCB took up positions in Ciney, northeast of Celles, and occupied Buissonville on 24 December, threatening to cut Kampfgruppe Böhm off from the rest of the 2nd Panzer Division.
Attacker: British and American (B Squadron, 3rd Royal Tank Regiment, and 8th Motor Rifle Battalion (The Rifle Brigade), 29th Armoured Brigade, 11th Armoured Division with 82nd Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, and Task Force A, Combat Command B, 2nd Armored Division)
Defender: German (2. Panzer Aufklärungsabteiling, and Panther Platoon, I Abteilung, 3. Panzer-Regiment, 2. Panzer-Division)

2023-03-27(D) Simon Staniforth vs DrawUnlike other 3 player scenarios I have played, this one has a couple of “Allies” against the Germans although both the British and US player are competing for VP. There are some large OBs here, particularly the Americans, so it’s not a quick game - we played for 3 days and called it a draw at the end of T4. The Germans were ahead on CVP but as their OB was being gradually reduced by Allied firepower it would have been a close finish with the Brits and Americans no doubt scrambling to take as many buildings as possible in the final couple of turns.
