Overview:

Italy's invasion of the Kingdom of Greece on 28 October initially resulted in an advance of several miles and the general withdrawal of light Greek forces at the border. Bad weather, poor roads, and general lack of infrastructure such as bridges held up the Italian forces more so than the Greek troops., who had only one division in the area. Still, few expected that the small Greek army would be able to hold the field against Italy's vaulted "eight million bayonets." Preparations on the Italian side left much to be desired, however, while Greek intelligence had been able to generally pinpoint the date of the attack, which then came as no surprise. By 2 November, the Ferrara Division reinforced by armor from the Centauro Division were finally nearing their first major objective, the critical road junction town of Kalpaki.
Attacker: Italian (23rd Infantry Division (Ferrara) and 131st Armored Division (Centauro))

2024-11-10(D) Vic Lauterbach vs RV Italian winI took the Greeks and put one MMC in the graveyard and one in woods 86R5 to slow the Italians down, all three guns on the hill and 1.5 squads in the crags covering VC 81M8 hex. Renato sent five L3s at the hill with the mortars and a few squads in support. That worked well. Moving tankettes were hard to hit. My guns killed two and immobilized another before they were overrun. Without support from the guns, the village defenders didn't have the firepower to stop the Italian infantry led by the flame L3! The tankette / mortar combo gives the Italians an edge. A good plan by Renato and a great game!
2024-10-11(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Italian win2 hrsMy Greeks failed to knock out any tanks and then 2 of them were MALF'd and removed. So the Italian armor massed on my boys in the village and the flame tank cooked everyone. Honestly, did not enjoy this scenario. The Italians are away over powered with tanks that are very difficult to hit and equally hard to knock out with the poor Greek guns. The ROAR record is a good indicator that the Greeks are overmatched. Throw in the Greek Kabob maker and it's really the Italian players game all the way.

2022-10-07(D) Michael Rodgers vs Clifford Smith Italian winWe played the mud correctly; only one tank bogged. We gave the Greeks the balance and diced for sides. Our game was slightly skewed by a 45mm mortar getting 4 CH over 3 fire phases to remove an 8-1 and two squads from play. My defensive setup could have been better.
