Overview:
Unwilling to accept the 19 January loss of the Városmajor to the Soviets, Major Lázlo Vannay quickly regrouped his men for an assault at 0500 the next morning, having secured the support of two Zrinyi IIs from the 10th Assault Gun Brigade and additional armor from Panzer-Division 13. After laying out his plan on a blackboard in the sacristy of the church at the east end of the Városmajor, he proceeded to the pulpit to address his troops, where he beseeched his men to overcome their fatigue, noting “in your eyes I read the flame of your furor hungaricus!”Attacker: German / Hungarian (Vannay) (1st 2nd and 3rd Companies, Vannay Battalion and Kampfgruppe Europa and Hungarian 10th Assault Gun Brigrade and German Panzer-Division 13)
