Overview:

Falling back, the Germans set up in the heavily fortified Kneiphof Stadt Gerichsgebaude (Courthouse), requiring the Soviet troops to bring up flame-throwing tanks to burn them out. Only by nightfall was the sector completely neutralized, allowing the Soviets to approach the river and inner defense perimeter.
