Overview:

At the onset of Barbarossa, Romania's primary goal was recapturing from the Russians its lost lands in Bessarabia and northern Bukovina. Although the Russians successfully resisted the initial assaults in the area, by the end of June the Axis had succeeded in establishing a small bridgehead over the Prut River, near Falciu. A major offensive was planned for July 2nd. The main blow was to be delivered by the 11th German Army. Under its command were the best motorized and most experienced Romanian units available. They were to advance toward Moghilev together with the German 11th Corps.

2024-01-13(A) Craig Renier vs Asad Rustrum Romanian winThe Romanian main axis of attack was along the north side of the battlefield. Using cover to maintain concealment, the attackers moved quickly forward into the buildings in preparation to cross the main road. The two Romanian R1s were wrecked early on by the ATR and would play no role in the battle. The Russian setup skillfully covered all road crossings leaving the Romanians stuck. Repeated attempts at breaking any of the defenders failed as the Russians kept rolling low on MCs. A fortunate CH by the Romanian mortar vs a BA-6 began to crack the defense. 2 Romanian MMCs were able to cross the open road on the north side while the MMC with ATR broke. The Romanians crossed the road in force and pushed past the defenders. In the meantime, a small attacking force attempted to flank the defender on the south side. The made slow but steady progress and offered a real threat. But in an attempt to quickly force the decision, the Romanians aggressively advanced and suffered heavy losses. One Romanian HS was able to infiltrate CC and eventually double time behind the Russian lines. Further Romanian units on the North also double timed past the defenders capturing multiple buildings. In the center, the Romanians pushed into the bulk of the defenders eventually wrecking an AFV in CC and breaking most of the remaining units. In a desperate attempt to reclaim buildings, a Russian MMC with leader tried to rush behind the lines but were broken under MG fire from a Romanian AFV.
2021-01-09(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Romanian winMy Russians took down a few tanks, but the Romanians were just too powerful and rolled me by Turn 5. Very tough on the Russians.
2020-02-23(D) Pascal Boileau vs Jean-Philippe Rigaud Romanian winI hold the line for 4 turns then the Romanians get on my back through the center and it was over for the Russians. A very nice opponent but the scenario seems unbalanced and pro-romanian with only 6 multi-hex buildings to control.
2010-10-22(D) Martí Cabré vs Shaun Gratton Romanian winDuplicate of AoO 1st ed game.
