Overview:

For the veterans of Gebirgs-Division 1, who had fought in Poland, France, and the Balkans, Operation BARBAROSSA was to be a totally new experience. Under the roaring salvos of divisional artillery, the Jäger of Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 99 crossed the border and headed toward the town of Oleszyce. Along the way, they engaged in several firefights with Soviet units which seemed to be everywhere. Finally, the Jäger, together with some light mountain guns from their artillery unit, reached the outskirts of Oleszyce. To their surprise, everything was quiet and no enemy units were around. At the boundaries of a park, part of a local castle, the German soldiers took a well-deserved rest

2023-06-22(D) Yuqi Xiong vs warf Russian winPlayed on Jun 22th, today in history. A strange and interesting scenario, Russians setup first and move first.
We forgot HtH melee was in effect, so the game was a little different from what it should be.
I again made the mistake to split my force eqaully, and half of my forces were actually attracted by inforier NKVD reinforcement. The other part of Germans were hit hard by a horde of 426 in a melee lasting 3 turns. In turn 5, I only captured 1 of the 3 buildings and forfeited the game. Would like to see a FT in my side.
2022-03-20(D) Vic Lauterbach vs John Bibler Russian winFun scenario that requires careful planning of the attack. Mine was foiled by HIP Russians popping up in the orchards and poor positioning of the 75 INF. I got into the castle with one stack but couldn't take it. Very well played by John!
2021-08-17(D) Rob MacGinley vs James Short Russian winI think the Germans have a very up hill battle here but I thought I was in the building only to have my men fail at the front door and for him to rally his me as well making it impossible in the time to get into and occupy the building

2020-10-10(A) Vilis Pavulans vs Erik Grande Russian winRussians entered and managed to get the NKVD troops past the german fire covering the entry points. Rushing to the main building they got there in time. Russians divided the forces and allocated a large force with the MMG to the german left flank to try to encircle or disturb the german advance but they never really had an impact. Instead it was the HiPed russians in the orchards who did the real work, breaking the german assault engineers, even killing a few of them out in the field when they closed in. After a few good shots from the russians and a sneaky move to the second level of the large building, making it possible to keep the assault engineers DMed and managing to break the 9-1, the germans decided that the castle should be left alone.
