Overview:

Company E, 2nd Battalion, 361st Infantry Regiment had advanced as far as Disotta, but German artillery and mortar fire took its toll and slowed the Americans. E Company was then stalled in fierce hand-to-hand combat with stubborn defenders of the 65th Infantry Division. Just after sunrise, the Germans launched a counterattack at included four Pz IVs and two self-propelled guns. Bazooka teams kept the enemy armor from completely overrunning E Company. Sherman tanks from C Company, 755th Tank Battalion and M-10s from the 804th Tank Destroyer Battalion moved forward to deal with the German armor that remained.
