Overview:

The SS LAH Regiment fought under XVI Corps during the invasion of Poland and was reinforced with the 150mm howitzers of Battalion II/Artillery Regiment 46. On the southern edge of the famous “Ceramic City” of Boleslawez, its lead elements were ambushed. Elements of the regiment attacked into the center of the city. Battalion III, minus Company 10, advanced to the east and ran into strong resistance at a village suburb of the city, defended by National Guard Battalion Wielun II, reinforced with artillery.

2024-03-04(A) Jobbo Fett vs Tanorian German (SS) winA setup that allowed the Germans to quickly advance down the south side of the map and into the town, coupled with the arrival of the Poles there (where they were quickly bottled up) allowed for an easier-than-expected push towards the objectives. There were quite a few good rolls for the Germans that definitely helped them out. Some shenanigans with a Polish defender and an amazing MMG, taking prisoners, getting into CC, made things fun. A good learning experience for my partner, I think :)
2024-02-13(A) Dave Mareske vs Craig Renier German (SS) winThe SS came on the map in waves feeling out the defense which was fairly spread out, as was the SS attack. The SS were able to take 5 squads prisoner over the course of the battle which weakened the defense overall. Heavy firepower against the last building sealed the deal. The Polish OBA stayed unused for the first few turns maintaining its threat. The Polish HMGs never were able to take advantage of ROFs and the SS morale mostly proved its worth. The SS 150 OBA got one drop that cleared the way for a mid game push. Great game which took all 7 turns to accomplish the win.
2021-04-01(A) Ross Mulcare vs Seb Mankowski Polish winMy German setup was spread along the entire board edge, as the threat of early Polish OBA made me wary of clumping up too much. Giving up that concentration of force, though, ultimately was a mistake. The Polish, especially once reinforced, can hold their own against a spread out line of even these beefy SS units. The handful of HMGs, all of which can Bore Sight, certainly provide enough firepower to make the German advance tricky. I never found a real opening in their line to push through. I did get one FFE off with the big 150+mm OBA, but subsequently malf'd the radio, never getting it fixed. I conceded after my MPh on Turn 5 with zero of the 6 VC buildings in my control, and realistic chances of grabbing maybe 1-2 of them.

This was fun enough, even if the stats today (Poles 9, SS 1) reveal it to be perhaps quite unbalanced. I think the SS could be given Smoke in their OBA to balance this out and provide a bit more maneuverability.
