Overview:

Prior to the invasion of Poland tensions grew, and the Poles began to take precautionary measures. Reserve noncommissioned officers were trained, and the post office in Danzig was fortified, including removing trees to open fields of fire. By the time of the invasion, they had nearly 60 personnel, in addition to other workers and militia in the surrounding area. As the day approached, the SS had a force of over 1500 soldiers, reinforced with armored cars. SS commander Johannes Schafer waited, ready to direct the occupation of Polish strongpoints: the railway station, the signal box, and the post office.

2024-05-19(D) Caleb Elledge vs SS Polish winThe Germans didn't set aside enough troops to deal with the partisans and were hung up on that objective for a long time which divided their troops. This caused them not to be able to crush the Polish forces which were almost all held up in the post office, with most of the Polish decoys in the other buildings between the post office and the german start position which slowed the cautious german player's advance. He was also very unlucky that he rolled a 12 on his first flamer roll and his second flamer was broken before he could fire. Overall, if the german player had focused all his attention on the partisans, then the post office, then he might have been able to crush the Poles easier.
2021-03-03(A) Kevin Sanders vs Rob Brown Polish winWell what can I say - Full surrounded Post Office w/ a stack inside and two turns of opportunity to shoot (No flamers available - 2 lost to issues). Not one to complain about dice but 30+ rolls die avg of 9 and a 36 FP shot gets 11s so....Poles hold out as you cant advance into a hex with a squad in a fortified building location. That's a lot of holes on the Poles Post Office. Flamers are the key here.
2021-02-26(A) Ross Mulcare vs Seb Mankowski German (SS) winPoles conceded at the bottom of Turn 4, after the flood of SS troops successfully opened the Post Office for German access. This scenario certainly captures the spirit of the actual event, but it ends up not making for a particularly interesting fight. Once the German descend on the Post Office, which isn't much of a problem given their overwhelming superiority in numbers and firepower, even the +5 TEM doesn't seem to be enough to keep the Polish last stand from collapsing. We played without the balance, but in retrospect absolutely should have given the Poles the balance.
