Overview:

The Chinese 38th Division, tasked with capturing Bhamo, advanced its three regiments south towards the Taping River. The 113th Regiment brushed aside Japanese patrols along its north bank, but found the south to be more heavily defended. 38th Division commander General Li Huang, wishing to avoid an attack on a defended river line, used his other two regiments, the 112th and 114th, to conduct an enveloping maneuver to the east. These regiments crossed the Taping upstream at an unguarded bridge, outflanking the Japanese line, and emerged on the plains east of Bhamo. The 114th Regiment encountered a strong entrenched Japanese force at Monmauk along the Myitkyina-Bhamo road.

2024-11-24(A) Vic Lauterbach vs JM Chinese winI drew the attacking Chinese in this late-war CBI theater fight. They have to take 8 buildings adjacent to 4 road hexes (road exists per SSR1). My main force drove straight for the 38X1 woods. My Turn 2 group swung west aiming for buildings H8 and I7. Time is on the defenders' side, so I had to close in fast and be aggressive in CC to avoid HtH CC initiated by the defenders. My plan worked, but this one comes down to who gets low CC DRs. I got enough to win. Jim: I opted for a compact defense as the defending force is too small to sacrifice any MMC as pickets. I put two HS with LMORs up front to take pot shots at the advancing Chinese. After turn 3, my force was pushed back to the VC buildings for the loss of two HS. The Chinese reinforcements quickly took the buildings on the north side of the road. That set up a fierce fight for building K7, trench J6 and building F4. The INF gun in K7 and MMG in J6 broke numerous attackers until both crews and my 9-1 died in turn 6 CCPh. My wounded 8-0 and a 237 held out in F4 until the final CCPh. Good game!
2024-11-13(D) David Garvin vs Rich DomovicA Chinese winAs part of the Friday Night Fight Club. A great scenario with plenty of ASL goodness. Banzai charge, two of my guys went Berserk! Plenty of fun!
2024-11-08(A) Mark Thompson vs Neil Brunger (Japanese)A Japanese winThe Japanese favored a rear defense with strong elements blocking the reinforcement area, but executed a fine fighting withdrawal with their forward elements. The Chinese Schwerpunkt was on the right with a left wing to keep pressure on all sides. They were too aggressive initially, with their 9-1 and a squad buying the farm on a 1KIA with Yatzhee RS drs, and their 4 fanatic/AE reinforcement squads getting nicked up quite badly at the hands of the INF gun. Nonetheless, the Chinese had a decent chance to pull it off with 2 Player Turns left, but the INF gun broke 2 squads in position to advance into CC with an intensive fire shot and the Chinese conceded. A fun scenario.

2017-01-24(A) Jalmari Raippalinna vs Vesa Virri Japanese winVery tight match
