Overview:

After landing in Sicily as part of Operation ”Husky”, the 2nd Armored Division made a lazy western swing towards Palermo. By the 22nd of July they had made it past the city of Castelvetrano, which had just fallen into Allied control. The 2nd Armored Division was given the nickname “Kool Force” and was assigned to clear the way through San Guisseppe to Palermo. The 41st Infantry with support from the 66th Armored Regiment was leading the way. The force was ambushed by a German anti-tank unit armed with at least one 88mm gun, protected mostly by Italian infantry. After the dust settled from the initial shots, the American infantry moved in to silence the guns.
Attacker: American (41st Infantry Regiment and 66th Armored Regiment, both of the 2nd Armored Division)

2022-02-21(A) Eric Partizan Eric vs German/Italian win
2020-05-04(D) Gordon Jupp vs Andy Bagley German/Italian winInteresting mix of troops for the Axis, up against elite US. I spread the ATG's, one 50L on each flank and the 88 in the centre on the edge of the grain field, each with somre infantry support, with a skirmish line of Italians up front to try and slow things up. Andy attacked in strength on his left but got bogged down, lost a tank to an APCR shot from one of the 50's and by T6 all ATG's and crews were intact so called it there. Interesting scenario.
2020-05-04(A) Andy Bagley vs Gordon Jupp German/Italian winWhatever the technique is for advancing across open ground, I haven't got it! Tried to go through the woods on the left flank but couldn't move fast enough, and lost one of my tanks to an LOS I hadn't spotted. Gordon played the defence really well - still a good game though.
