At the start of the invasion of France and the Low Countries-FALL GELB (CASE YELLOW)-most of Infanterie Regiment “Grossdeutschland” was attached to Panzer-Division 10, where it fought at Stonne, and later was employed against the British counterattack at Arras. After Dunkirk, the Germans launched FALL ROT (CASE RED), and “Grossdeutschland” was transferred south, where it helped establish a crossing of the La Noye River at both Quiry-le-See and Paillart on 8 June. The French 2nd and 4th Armies were crumbling as “Grossdeutschland” led the pursuit.Attacker: French (2nd Army)
