Overview:

As part of Operation Stevedore, the veteran 3rd Marine Division was to land on four beaches between Asan and Adelup Points on the west coast of Guam. However, Lt.-Gen. Takashina had correctly guessed the landing spots and had shifted infantry and artillery assets to reinforce the beaches and the commanding heights behind them. . .

2020-10-11(A) Paul Works vs Dan Best American (USMC) winGood scenario to learn amphibious assaults. Totally HIP Japanese force, with caves. Dan always has a great cave setup and he did it here here again. I think to win, the Japanese have to destroy quite a few amphibious vehicles in the water to a) kill the occupants, or b) make the occupants get out and wade in. In ours, I got most of my force ashore, got them organized and concentrated, and used them to overwhelm his defenses on the right-side hill. Fire played an interesting role in this game. His ATR burned three of my vehicles (ouch) and my FBs dropped napalm on his two 90mm MTRs to burn them up.

2018-06-21(D) Scott Sherer vs Jeff B Japanese winAt least I think the Japanese won. A scenario this large and it came down to the final CC in a single hex. Japanese were attacking and we forgot to do the CC HtH which would make the difference between who won. After, we counted up the CVP and came to 101, just over the 100 CVP cap for the Americans. Amazing that such a huge scenario came down to such a close finish. Something for my bucket list...spawned a THH, picked up an American DC laying on the ground and used it to kill an American AFV on the north ridge on my last turn. Overall a great scenario, but very slow going and after some of the VASL sessions, my head was pounding!
2018-06-20(A) Jeff B vs Scott Sherer Japanese win27.5 hrsYes, Scott, the Japanese won. By a couple different ways - maintaining control of the western hill, and by the USMC hitting 101 CVP. As Scott said, it was truly amazing that a game of this magnitude would come down to the very last CC phase. By the end of the game both of our forces were truly decimated. This was a great experience, but I know we were both happy to get this one behind us (having taken over 3 months of playing to complete). I think we both have had our fill of PTO for the moment!
