Overview:
The German high command had devised Operation Rosselsprung to attempt to eliminate the leader of the Yugoslavian patrisans, Josef Tito. An airborne assault on Partisan Supreme HQ in Drvar occurred on 25 May. 314 paratroops landed with plans to seize the town, including the cellulose factory, and seal off the eastern approaches to the German perimeter. Ground troops of the XV Gebrigs Corps would attempt to relieve the paratroops as quickly as possible. With speed, shock and surprise SS fallschirmjagers quickly overcame the light resistance in the town but than resistance began to stiffen. Before long the SS Paras found themselves embroiled in street fighting against captured Italian tanks and elite officer cadets.Attacker: German (SS) (Elements of Gruppe Rot, Gruppe Blau and Gruppe Grün of SS Fallschirmjäger Bataillon 500)
