Overview:

For two days the Poles desperately tried to hold a line in the vicinity of the Warta and Widawka Rivers but were gradually pushed back. However, the stubborn resistance of the crack Polish 10th Infantry Division was threatening to throw the German invaders severely off their time schedule and might enable the Poznan Army to escape almost certain encirclement. Determined to break through, the Germans brought up heavy reinforcements including the elite Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler Regiment and attacked at once.

2024-06-08(D) Tony Fermendzin vs Steve SluntD Polish winGermans attacked through the woods and along the south side of the map. Poles set up their wire in a line near where boards 3 and 5 meet, with gaps funneling the Germans over hill 547, where the Polish bunker was placed and through the stone building defended by the Polish 9-2 leader and a MMG.

The Poles were able to reinforce the stone building, where the Germans would get hung up and were never able to push through as the Poles turned out to be tough to beat in CC. The German 9-2 leader would get captured and killed in the battle for the stone building and the Polish 9-2 leader would be wounded.

The Germans were able to push through a gap between Hill 547 and the woods that was not covered by the bunker, but the Polish dice turned red hot as the Germans tried to push over/past Hill 534, and the Germans ran out of time/troops in the end.

Neither side could get their OBA into play as the Poles drew two straight red cards and the Germans malf'ed their radio and then failed to get radio contact at the critical moment towards the end.

Dice really favored the Poles in this one (the Germans rolled six 12's on MC/Rally attempts), and Steve was still able to make it a close game in the end.
2024-06-01(A) Craig Renier vs Eric Zagdan-Gross German (SS) winThe Germans attacked in force on the south side of the battlefield with a small force moving through the woods in the center. The Poles placed a majority of the wire in the woods which severely slowed the German advance. However, the major thrust on the South moved quickly while the Poles struggled to shift their forces from the North and center to the South. The Poles were able to break a number of German squads on turns 2 and 3. But the 9 broken morale allowed the German units to rally quickly. By the end of Turn 4 the Germans were on Hill 547 in force with two MMGs and the 9-2 leader. This position blocked the Poles from being able to reinforce the south side leaving the door open for the Germans to exit. The German gun was never unhooked and OBA played no roll.
