Overview:

The battle of Kursk had largely climaxed, with formations neighboring the “Grossdeutschland” Division being driven into defensive modes. Following one day of rest and replenishment, in the midst of preparing to once again drive north, the neighboring Panzer-Division 3 was driven off key hills and crossroads astride Panzerkorps KLVIII’s supply line. Battle-groups were quickly formed to counterattack this dangerous threat. The division moved westwards under heavy enemy artillery fire, and during the morning several fierce counterattacks from the north and west were repulsed. Through an inferno of fire, “Grossdeutschland” battlegroups sought to clear the heights of Hill 243.0.

2014-08-03(A) Martí Cabré vs Jesús Pié Russian winMy attack on the first hill went fairly well with good OBA shots, but I lost my FlammPanzer to a first roll of 6,6. I destroyed some of his defenses including the T34 but on the way to the second hill all went bad, with his FT unit killing my StuGs, a little MTR destroying my HTs and could not stop his SUs and reinf T34 to reach the hill and cover it on all directions. I tried with my Panthers but both were destroyed by tank and FT attacks. My infantry reached the hill summit trenches and took them but another FT attack killed them, making impossible to hold the summit and also dislodge the enemy from the adjacent hexes, so I conceded on the last turn.
