Overview:
On January 12th, the Feldherrnhalle Division retreated to the area of Varosliget Park. The Hungarian 10th Infantry Division held a position forward of the park and was in danger of being cut off with Soviets in their rear in the park. The 13th Panzer and members of the Hungarian Morlin Group launched a counterattack that stalled shortly thereafter. A more successful attack by the Kundiger Group and the Hungarian 1st Tank Division reached Orczy Square and recaptured most of the Tisztvisleotelep estate, thereby taking some of the pressure off the Hungarian 10th Division. Around midday, German armored vehicles equipped with flamethrowers advanced into Teleki Square. . .Attacker: Hungarian / German (Hungarian 10th Infantry Division and the 66th Panzer Regiment)
