Overview:
Velikiyie Luki was just recently encircled but here roles were reversed from Stalingrad – it was the Germans who were starting a fight for their lives. In this small city, the Germans built company-sized strongpoints, most named after German cities. Facing their first attack on the cold and wet morning of the 28th, the men of stronghold Hamburg would have their hands full trying to hold out against a frightful Russian weapon.Attacker: Russian (Elements of the 948th Rifle Regiment, 257th Rifle Division and 33rd Tank Brigade)
Defender: German (Elements of Infanterie Regiment 277, Infanterie Division 83 plus tank-hunter unit)

2024-10-25 | (A) O Ramaille | vs | Pierre-Jean C | German win | Despite LV hindrance, German MMG placed at higher levels slowed considerably the Russian advance with numerous available LOS breaking and ELRing several squads. The radioless Russian tanks were not always willing to move. The OT-34 burned a squad before being immobilized and abandoned by a vicious shot from the AT gun placed at the first level of a building. The Russian attack was completely disorganized with several German MMCs still holding the victory building. The Russian entered the building. But with 2 turns remaining and scattered troops, the Russians felt it would not be possible to achieve victory.
2023-02-12 | (A) Richard Jenulis | vs | Terry Gray | Russian win | NWASL Championship - round 4. One of the best games of ASL I have played. The Russians attacked up the right side of the board. Started Raining on turn 1 with heavy rain on turn 2. Turn 1 Human Wave took no losses and broke the German front line. The Germans called the game on turn 4 when the Russians placed a DC on the AT gun. I took no losses in this game. Everything pulled together.

2020-06-24 | (A) Paul Works | vs | Dan Best | Russian win | As the Russian, I attacked along both flanks, with the stronger force and the tanks on the west side. Germans set up all but a handful of units in/around the main building they needed to control. Moved up to the first building row, then attempted to flank completely to the west. My T34 M41 was jumped by one of T-H HS; even with an escorted Russian squad and in-motion, the pesky HS killed it! Ouch. The HS was broken by the now-stopped OT-34's FT and my infantry moved up to the second building row. One the east flank, my units got into CC with a squad and HS and killed them both. On turn 4, I decided to swarm the German defenses. I was able to place a DC on the German 9-1 and HMG (and, it turned out, the 75mm Gun) and was able to reduce that stack. My swarming of the Germans on the west ended up with three squads getting to the building and my 9-1 and battle-hardened 6-2-8 going into CC with two German squads and a leader. My pesky OT-34 decided not to move and did not play a role in the rest of the game. On the German turn, my 6-2-8 and leader killed all those Germans in CC and I encircled the other German position. At this point Dan conceded.
