Overview:
Further south, the Romanian III Corps had an easier time as it pushed the Soviet 95th Rifle Division northwards into a highland region known as the Cornesti Massif. After the Romanian 1st Armored Division broke through at Brinzeni, the tankers moved north and east, placing themselves behind the main defenses of the Soviet 95th Rifle Division at the Cornesti Massif. Here the III Corps bogged down in the face of persistent Soviet counterattacks by infantry supported by the 5th and 9th Cavalry Divisions. The 1st Armored was ordered to break this deadlock by attacking the Soviets from the rear.Attacker: Romanian (1st Armored Division)
