Overview:

Elements of the Japanese 33rd Division’s Yamamoto Force were being delayed in the area of Tengnoupal, along the main Tamu-Pale route, by the Indian 23rd Division. Heavy fighting in the surrounding hills had taken its toll on the Japanese who were now forced to withdrawal. British Major-General Roberts ordered the 23rd Division to pursue and harass the Japanese and to cut off their retreat toward Tamu with a wide, left-flank movement. Infiltrating through the Japanese, the 4/5 Mahrattas cut the Tamu-Pale road and established a hasty roadblock of tar barrels and anti-tank mines at RK 729023. The rain had finally stopped, permitting the Japanese to immediately attack the roadblock.

2024-08-03(A) Stephen dedier vs Dave K Indian winThis one was fun but would seem to be tough on the Japanese if the Indians play keep away. Dave scattered his SW to the 4 corners and up to the hills along with dummies forcing a large split of forces. Fortunately i guessed the dummies correctly and only lost a 1.5 squads chasing them down to be sure.
I did a small deke and kept a squad, leader and DC HiP through the first turn and Dave committed to the other units. The HiP guys ran to the roadblock and took it out with the DC.
It looked really bad for the Japanese but a couple of good shots and bad MC on the Indians took it down to only 1 squad with a LoS to the road even though they were forced to their last hex option to do so. Unfortunately, the Japanese just didn't have enough firepower to get in with them in CC (they were in bamboo) or break them.

2020-11-19(A) Ulric Schwela vs Jim Bishop Indian winJapanese attack was too cautious to begin with, too focused on hitting the roadblock head on instead of bypassing and leaving the minimum units to do the clearing. Cleared the roadblock with ease (luck!), but Indian retreated onto the hill in good order and made it very difficult. Usual seesaw slaughter, leaving two Indian LMGs still covering the road.
