Overview:
Elements of the 1st Battalion, commanded by Lt. Col. Waters, were making rapid progress in their drive toward Bizerte and Tunis. At 0700 hours they seized a road junction south of Mateur and then pushed east across the Tine River toward the Chouigui Pass.
