Overview:
The men of K Company, 3rd Battalion, 110th Infantry Regiment were outposted in the town of Hosingen, located on the main north-south highway just behind the front line. When the Germans opened their Ardennes Offensive on the morning of 16 December, the men of Volksgrenadier Division 26 were to bypass these American nodes of resistance, leaving them to me mopped up by the following units. At 28th Division headquarters, the only reinforcements immediately available were the tanks assigned to the division, the 707th Tank Battalion. In the late afternoon, a medium tank platoon under the command of 1st Lieutenant Robert Payne received orders to attack south along Skyline Drive, push through the German units moving wets, and relieve the embattled K Company -- if it was still there.Attacker: German (Grenadier Regiment 77, Volksgrenadier Division 26)
