Overview:

With Patton demanding an around-the-clock effort, the men of CCB organized an enveloping attack on Chaumont, with the armored infantry attacking along the main road from the south, and the tank moving in from the west across the open fields. Clear skies had allowed the fields to thaw and the left hook by the American tanks bogged down in the mire. In spite of the setback, the American armored infantrymen were still able to capture Chaumont. The Germans rarely allowed an enemy time to consolidate on ground gained and Chaumont was no exception.
