Overview:
All through the day of the 12th, Company F at the culvert was in a state of siege. From all sides mortar, artillery and machinegun fire fell near the group dug in around the culvert. The heaviest fire came from Tame, less than 200 yards away. The men of Company F fired back, but their force was small and their ammunition stocks dwindling.
