Overview:

De Gaulle's 4th Armored Division, called upon to eliminate the German bridgehead across the Somme at Abbeville, attacked on the 28th and succeeded in pushing the Germans back some four kilometers before halting for the night. The morale of the defending 57th Infantry Division-at least of the men in the front lines-was severely shaken by the failure of their 37mm anti-tank guns to make much impression on the French tanks. So, during the hours of darkness, German artillery and AA guns were brought forward to bolster its defenses. The French assault resumed just before dawn and early morning found elements of the 22nd Colonial Infantry Regiment, temporarily attached to the 4th Armored, and the 8th Demi-Brigade of light tanks approaching the hamlet of Villers-sur-Mareuil.

2024-04-19(A) Peyton Spreacker vs Brandon Dega German winThe Germans set up a stout outer perimeter that the French could not easily break. The French OBA struggled to maintain radio contact and even then, battery access was only allowed once. The German 88 halted the advance of the tanks, taking out five R35s and three B1-bis tanks. Ultimately, the reinforcements for the French could not break the outer defenses of the Germans and after a crazy amount of CVPs, the French conceded.
2020-11-02(A) Jason Nichols vs Eric Topp German winThis scenario is a difficult logistical scenario for the French I found. There are a lot of tanks using platoon movement and it took me a while to grasp the advantages bestowed by SSR 5. This forces any German unit that is attacked by a tank from an adjacent hex to take a MC (so long as such a result was possible) regardless of the outcome.
My infantry took some heavy casualties initially at the hands of long-range MG fire from the upper levels in the village. An OBA attack on my units in the woods also resulted in casualties. I was unable to gain a foothold in the village and never really threatened the Germans. By turn 11 I had failed to secure any level two locations and capitulated.
Well played by my opponent who probably would have secured the win earlier if his OBA didn't pack it in after one sortie.
2020-04-03(A) Shane Pask vs French winThis is a big scenario. My infantry did well with minor casualties but my tanks fared much worse. Only 1 B1 left the board with another immobilised by mechanical failure and 3 in flames. Finally dropped some OBA smoke in the middle of town to hide me while I took the rowhouses for a win on turn 11.
