101st Airborne forces holding "Hell's Highway" were in an intense battle with German forces when a crippled British Sherman tank, which had dropped out of column due to mechanical issues, came charging in -- at five miles per hour. Afterward, when trying to thank him, tank commander James McCrory said, "When in doubt, lash out."
