Overview:

The Slovakian uprising had begun to unravel in the face of strong German counterattacks. Key to establishing a defensive line was control of the neighboring towns of Vrutky and Klacany, which remained in German hands despite repeated attacks. Augmented with several ex-German tanks and assistance from partisans, the Slovakians made one more attempt. . .

2023-04-23(D) Ron Garcia vs Darryl M. German winFun scenario. My friend sent a small force with all the tank support to take the eastern VP building. I put a couple of conscript HS and a full conscript to delay his force as long as possible. The AT guns took out all the tanks and the HMG in the only two story building in the scenario did a good job of breaking several squads and the only leader over there. By the time my friend called it, the building still hadn't completely fallen.

The rest of his forces flanked through board 42, and most of the partisans moved through the mountains. Going was slow as the aforementioned HMG plus LMG combo and another leader/LMG/squad combo in the other 2nd level hex made the Slovaks and Partisans pay for getting too close.

The attack fizzled out by the time the German reinforcements were due to come on. Too many broken/CR squads and not enough leaders to rally them left the Slovaks too short of men to push towards any of the buildings.

Very balanced in ROAR and here, but I feel the Slovakian forces are tougher to play. More things have to go right for them than the Germans - especially when crossing the open ground (at least if the Germans set up on level 1 or higher) to get to that eastern building. If they can gather their forces in the blind hexes on board 42, they have a decent chance of swarming the defenders in 41FF2. If that falls, especially since the HMG and 8-1 are probably going to be in there, the Slovaks have a very good chance of winning the scenario.

The sniper picking of the turn 5 reinforcements on the hill to the North was the last nail in the coffin. Germans were given the win at the top of turn 6.
