Overview:

The defense of Prome, a major population center along the road leading to Mandalay from Rangoon, was under the command of Brigadier David “Punch” Cowan, and his division was deployed covering these routes. Reports soon reached his HQ that a large enemy force was moving along the railway to his east headed directly at 48th Brigade defending Hmawza. If the enemy were to drive the 48th Brigade from their positions this would cut off Cowen’s division, and he ordered attacks to prevent this. Two battalions, one from each of the 16th and 63rd Brigades, were ordered to attack southward to Shwedaung. About a mile north of Shwedaung, 4th/12th Frontier Force Regiment was met along their march by over 1,000 insurgents of the Burma Independence Army (BIA) led by Japanese officers. A rough fight was joined.
Attacker: Commonwealth (Sikhs) (4th/12th Frontier Force Regiment with Light Armor Support)
Defender: Axis (Japanese/BIA) (Burma Independence Army with attached Japanese Officers)

2024-11-19(A) Eric Partizan Eric vs Douglas Leslie Axis (Japanese/BIA) win
2024-11-18(D) Douglas Leslie vs Eric Partizan Eric Axis (Japanese/BIA) winFun scenario with an unusual Axis OB comprising partisans backed up by Japanese SW and leaders. Eric dug himself in to a VP hole early on when he stopped an unsupported carrier too close to a Burmese held building and it was duly despatched by a MOL attack. Two more vehicles went down to ATR fire and the Commonwealth troops were now toiling. On the plus side from their point of view, they generated seemingly unlimited quantities of smoke The downside was that the mortars couldn't put smoke everywhere and the Burmese fire was deadly as I seemed to be rolling threes and snake eyes at will. This proved to be too much for the attackers to cope with and Eric conceded on turn 4.
2024-10-31(A) Andy Bagley vs Mike Grogan Axis (Japanese/BIA) winGreat scenario and a very enjoyable game. As the Commonwealth I chose to concentrate my attack in the centre, as this seemed to provide the shortest route with the best cover. Problem was, it also had a lot of burnable terrain, and the BIA MOLs started a couple of fires which significantly hindered my progress. In the end I very nearly made it but couldn't quite capture the last building needed for victory.
2024-10-06(D) John Garlic vs Bill Hayward Axis (Japanese/BIA) win
2024-09-09(D) Dave Mareske vs Paul Works Commonwealth (Sikhs) win5.33 hrsAfter intense fighting for the first four turns the Commonwealth finally got close and either broke or killed in Melee the remaining partisans. Good game, the attacker needed all 6 turns eliminating the final holdout in the Rout Phase.
