Overview:
The Russian operations north of Lake Ladoga had surprised the Finns and forced them to retreat approximately 40 miles. The Finns launched a counterattack on 12 December. They conducted a pincer movement to isolate the Hirvasharju Peninsula, and succeeded in seizing the tourist hotel, inflicting over 1,000 Russian casualties. Some of the Finnish units continued to attack, but LTC Pajari's 16th Infantry Regiment took the day off, a decision Pajari would regret. He ordered an attack on 14 December and would relentlessly attack to destroy the 139th Rifle Division.Attacker: Finnish (No more details)
