Overview:
As part of the southern portion of Operation FRÜHLINGSERWACHEN (SPRING AWAKENING), elements of General Werner von Erdmannsdorff's LXXXXI Armee of Heeresgruppe E were ordered on the evening of 5 March to assault north from the area around the Croatian city Donji Miholjac to create a bridgehead across the Drava River into southern Hungary. Led by units from Jäger-Division 104 and Infanterie-Division 297, the Germans initially made excellent progress in crossing the Drava and opening a bridgehead approximately 20 kilometers deep and 5 to 6 kilometers wide in the area around the towns of Drávaszabolcs, Drávapalkonya, and the Sedan farm. Initially defended by elements of the Bulgarian IV Corps' 3rd Infantry Division, the Bulgarians were about to be heavily reinforced by several Soviet units in order to stem the tide of the Axis advance.Attacker: Allied ((Russian) 122nd Rifle Division, 133 Rifle Corps, 1891st Self-Propelled Gun Regiment and 53rd Separate Motorcycle Regiment and (Bulgarian) Armored Battalion, First Bulgarian Army)

I think the Allies need to go slow until their reinforcements arrive and begin to flank the Germans. It is hard on the Germans as they seemed to be shooting in every direction towards the end. The Germans made some critical shots with their Marders that gave hope to the German defense bringing the game down to the last turn. | ||
