Overview:

On June 22nd, strong Soviet forces penetrated a gap between Army Group North and Army Group Center at Polotzk. II Army Corps was pulled out of line to establish a new defense to the east and southeast of Dunaberg, reinforced by the 502nd Heavy Panzer Battalion, several assault gun units, as well as FlaK and artillery battalions. On the evening of July 10th, 3./502nd s.Pz, Kompanie with 7 Tiger tanks advanced southwest from Gatelai with 80 men and 2 assault guns in order to penetrate to Stugliai to establish contact with a Kampfgruppe from the 225th Infantry Division which had not been heard from since 1000 that morning from their position in the village of Pilkeniai.

2026-09-24(D) Jeff B vs Magnus Rimvall Russian win4 hrsBasically a half board game, unless the Russians want to foolishly defend up front. So the first turn was quiet as the Germans approached. As he drew within range on Turn 2, I made a point of targeting his leaders, as infantry was what was going to win this game. I took out his 8-0 with my MMG nest. Meanwhile my bookend guns each immobilized a tank, and one crew paid the price with a boxcar MC. I figured if each gun could bring a tank to a standstill I'd win. His kill stack advanced up on the western hill and, between them and the expected smoke, I was booted from the beautiful J11/K12 defensive positions. Turn 3 saw me wound one of the 7-0s and bust up any infantry approaching another freshly revealed gun position. This gun then immobilized a tank at the bottom of the turn, the crew then diving into CC to eliminate the guards holding his brethren crew prisoner, valiantly dying in the process. Turn 4 was another bad turn for the Germans, running into yet another HIP gun trap. They busted up the assaulting infantry, then proceeded to immobilize yet another tank at the bottom of the turn. Down to only half their squads and tanks being good order, and having seen three more reinforcing Russian squads enter the VC area completely unopposed, the Germans decided to toss in the towel. I really thought this would be an easy German victory, but that is a lot of relatively open ground to cross for the German infantry to get to the goal. With DI being the only realistic way for the Russians to knock out those tanks, I would constantly keep them in motion if I were the attacker.
2025-08-22(A) Tuomo Lukkari vs Eero Vihersaari Russian win
2024-09-03(A) Jonathan Kapleau vs Holland, Donald German win
2024-07-27(D) nathan wegener vs Maurizio Rossi German winSet piece defense not my favourite type of game. My ATG had no APCR, got no ROF, and missed all the DI shots. By hiding and running from CC I still almost won but was pinned and couldn’t withdraw on the last turn.
2024-07-12(A) Dave Mareske vs Craig Renier German winCraig did the right thing and tried to immobilize my Tigers. I used the two STUGs on a level one hill in the north to lay out some SMOKE which was very effective, but still the Russians were able to deliberately immobilize 4 tigers and I got another one on a start up. Down to my last two tigers I was able to park them behind a wall in the village and pepper the Russian positions with HE. It still came down to the last CC and the game ended with a Russian crew locked in Melee. A very narrow victory for the Germans. A great game!
