Overview:

The British effort to cross the Rhine in September had fallen a bridge short and was now bogged down in "the Island" between the Rhine and Waal Rivers. The Germans had bottled up the Allies and casualties on both sides were mounting. The Wessex Division was scheduled to be pulled out of the line and replaced by the American 101st Airborne Division in Opheusden, a town not far from the Rhine, near the railroad line that served this part of the Netherlands.
Attacker: German (Volksgrenadier-Division 363)
Defender: British/American ((British) 5th Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, 43rd Wessex Division, (American) 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airbourne Division)

2025-03-16(D) Vic Lauterbach vs Trevor P. German winI deferred to Trevor, and he opted to attack. My plan was to slow the Germans down with fire from Q4 and R6 then drop back to the VC building T5. It didn't work. Trevor lost 2.5 MMC rushing forward, but got 447s into R4, R5 and T4 on turn 2 and tied up the defenders in Melee. Taking buildings T4 and V5 early was the key. From there, German fire broke two of three 747 'replacements' trying to reach T5. I rallied one, but my 9-1 and two 747s w/MMG couldn't hold the VC building against nine 447s w/HMG and two StuGs. Post game, neither of us saw an obvious winning Allied setup, but one worth trying would be to put the whole British force in T5 and V5 except dummies and one 457 up front to hit a few 447s crossing OG. If you could get the whole US force into T5 before the Germans close in, they might hold on. This game was a lot more fun than we expected, but the result was no surprise.
2025-02-09(A) Tuomo Lukkari vs Mikko Lukkari German win
2024-03-02(A) Shane Pask vs British/American winTurn 1 started well. I broke most of the defenders and their MMG malfed. Turn 2 everyone who could left and a new batch of Yanks entered. Then things went south. My 7-0 with 3 broken squads managed to rally only 1 by game end, 2 CRed on one turn. The Stugs had no effect at all even though 1 Stug was hit twice by the bazooka - the first bounced off, the second shocked the crew who recovered immediately. At game end, 2 squads and a 9-2 (battle hardened hero) still held out in the last victory hex.
