Overview:
Following the collapse of the 3rd Battalion, 34th Infantry regiment along the Kum River, elements of the North Korean 16th Regiment, 4th Division, pressing south towards Taejon, engaged the 63rd Field Artillery Battalion. At 1330, a battalion outpost reported enemy troops coming toward them but were ordered not to fire as it might be friendly forces...a grave mistake as the North Koreans overran machine gun posts and turned them on the HQ Battery. Simultaneously, A Battery came under fire from the west by North Koreans. Both A and HQ Batteries were quickly overrun; B Battery was next.Attacker: North Korean (16th Regiment, 4th Division)
