2023-10-06 | (A) Kermit Mullins | vs | Dan Best | American win | First solid playing of this scenario. Dan and I assessed some of the gaps and made corrections to the turn length, the American trucks, entry turn for the M8's and better setup options for the Germans. Our game went pretty well to the walk-throughs I had done during the scenario creations. The German sniper would select and KIA the American 7-0, which is critical to ensuring the Americans stay broken. But the Sniper was also too close and was himself killed in Close Combat. Dan would destroy all three trucks and KIA one squad. Another would pass crew survival. Dan's dice were cold with a few bright spots. His 9-2 would go heroic, but he squad with the MMG would MALF it, fix it and then themselves roll a 12 on an NMC and go to broken half-squad. Dan's 3-4-8 would be KIA'd in Close Combat. Sparks would arrive, but his tank would be destroyed by a faust. Sparks would survive and then in a final Close Combat the Heroic German 9-2 by himself went into CC with Sparks and the last remaining US squad that had a chance to exit off the south edge. The 9-2 would be killed and on Turn 6, Sparks would hustle the last squad off the south edge for the win. Overall, we thought the scenario was fun with a lot of close fighting. Much of the game turned on the poor dice rolls of Dan's Germans. A few better outcomes and the game went have gone to the Germans. Updated Scenario card has been placed here in the User Files tab. |
