Overview:

In spite of being a D-Day objective, the city of Caen still lay in German hands more than a month after the OVERLORD landings. The British and Canadians found themselves bogged down in the city and facing the dedicated soldiers of SS-Panzer-Division 12. On the night of 7 July and the early morning hours of 8 July, the RAF and USAAF sent 40 heavy bombers and many more medium bombers against Caen as a prelude to Operation Charnwood, with the ultimate goal of seizing the city from the Germans. There had been some controversy regarding the 3rd Canadian Division commander, General Keller, and his fitness for duty. The whispered assessment of his abilities among the men was that "Keller was yellow," nd this began to have a significant impact on the division's offensive capabilities.

2023-01-05(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Federico Corso German (SS) winCity scenario, tough on the defender, the more expert player needs definitely to grab the germans.
In our game the germans were able to conduct a disciplined retreat with no losses (lot of voluntary routs). The real fight started in 6th turn when there was no more space for retreat. The Canadians took the easiest building on turn 6 but I was able to deny them one of the last two.
I must point out that this is an old style scenario, the first 4 turns are there just for setting up forces in the best spot. Quite boring for the german player who need to just retreat.
Rubble position is also critical for both players, German wants to deny evenues of advance to the Canadian who in turn want to clear LOS for the observer and Sherman SMOKE placement (our game saw a WP CH as well).
2022-08-13(A) Dave Mareske vs Dan Best Canadian winFun little scenario. The German Stug took out one of the Shermans, crew survived and killed the Stug in CC. The Canadians advanced slowly through the buildings, but they were able to win most of the CCs and the OBA rained down on the final victory building. Another Sherman scored a critical hit on another victory location, killing the squad inside. All that was left was for the Canadians to move up and take the buildings.
