Overview:

In the autumn of 1943, the 48th Panzer Corps became embroiled in what would eventually be known as the Battle of the Kiev Salient. The Russian 60th Army had broken through the German lines and captured Kiev. General Hermann Balck took over command of the corps just before the counterattacks began. 1st SS Panzer departed on 5 December, while recon and sappers of the 7th Panzer Division improved roads and bridges around Zhitomir in anticipation of the attack the following day.

2024-06-26(A) Andy Bagley vs Simon Staniforth Russian winNot a fan of this scenario, which seems tough for the Germans. Or at least, it needs careful planning as well as understanding of the SSRs as well as wire clearance rules - which I didn't manage in the time we had available. I also put both of my armoured cars in harm's way close to a HIP Russian squad with an ATR. So a couple of good shots and it was all over by Turn 2 when my Germans exceeded their CVP cap.
Placement of the wire counters seems obvious, and their position can be well defended despite the Russians' scattered starting positions.
2024-06-20(D) Simon Staniforth vs Andy Bagley Russian winMy opponents has already written this one up - nothing to add to his comprehensive comments
2022-12-04(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Russian winFirst to play and post.
2022-12-04(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winGerman attack came on hard and strong. The Russians suffered some early breaks and MALF'd the MMG and lost it. The Germans would also suffer two Recalls of the 75* Armored Car and the Halftrack. The Russians began to break the Germans around Turn 3 and hit the CVP cap on Turn 5. This is a great little scenario and hopefully this first post will make you want to play this scenario. Great premise and overall, a very fun scenario.
