Overview:
As George Patton’s 3rd Army began driving out of northern Alsace into the Palatinate, the Germans threw whatever units were available to slow or halt the hard charging Americans. Major Rudolf Grillenberger’s Schwere Panzerjaeger-Abteilung 653 would be one of these units. Grillenberger was forced to spread his forces out and would send two Jagdtigers under the command of Leutnant Kasper Geoggler to block the critical road junction in Neustadt in order to prevent Patton’s 10th Armored Division from blocking escape routes east at Germersheim.Attacker: American (3rd Battalion, 10th Armored Division)
