Overview:

The recently formed Slovakian state contested not only the treaty settlement between Poland and Slovakia, but also the political authority over the settlements in the High Tatra in which many Slovakians lived. Following the German invasion of Poland, the Slovakian 1st Infantry Division met little resistance as it occupied some disputed villages and the High Tatra Polish town of Zakopane. Shortly after leading elements passed through Zabrese on September 4th, the Slovakians were halted by Polish artillery and elements of the 2nd Mountain ("Nowy Sacz") Brigade. Helped by local civilians, the Poles planned a counterattack for the next morning.
Attacker: Polish (2nd Mountain Brigade, Armia Karpaty)
Defender: Slovakian (3rd Battalion, 4th Regiment, 1st Infantry Division)

2021-07-29(A) César Moreno vs Juno29 Polish winPolish went all in for the closest building with a pinzer movement. Best Slovakian units were there, and when they fired FPF they rolled a 12. With Polish surrounding them, they had nowhere to rout to.
A lucky shot broke the 81* Minometz mortar crew (they accomplished absolutely nothing during the game, even if they had some great opportunities agains the careless polish).
Slovakian tried to recover the building but Lady Luck favored the now-defending Polish and by turn 4 my opponent conceded.
2021-07-05(A) Craig Renier vs Mark Dennehy Polish winThe Poles advanced along the eastern edge of the board using the woods as cover. They were surprised by the Slovak mortar in X8 which halted the attack. Fortunately for the Poles, the Slovak mortar broke in Turn 2. The Polish reinforcements entered on the southeast side in N0 attempting to seize one building in the Slovak flank. The Poles suffered heavy losses, half of which were caused by boxcars in the RPh. The flank attack was repulsed leaving the two force broken and reduced. By the end of Turn 3, a Polish victory seemed remote. But, a fortunate shot on a key Slovak defensive position in building S9 provided an opportunity. Plus, the Polish flanking force finally rallied in Turns 5 and 6. With the remaining forces, the Poles were able to survive multiple Slovak shots and gain control of buildings S9 and P7. At the end of Turn 6, too much of the Slovak counter attack was left broken or pinned leaving the Slovaks no option other than to concede.

Fun game. Played as Poles with balance given to Slovakians. Game started off badly, but I got some key breaks during middle of game that broke things open. My reinforcements arrived timely and in the right spot. I originally intended to capture the eastern building for the win, but I ended up shifting to the west and capturing the western building instead. I massed my forces around the western building and beat off all Slovakian counterattacks.
