Overview:
VASL Board below in USER FILES. . . .The Cavalry Operational Group (Grupa Operacyjna Kawalerii) was close to the Hungarian border when Soviet forces hit them from the front and rear. Soviet tanks led the way as the Poles fought desperately to stave off the attack. The Polish artillery and anti-tank guns took a toll on the attacking Soviets. The Poles however were running out of small arms ammunition and anti-tank shells. The cavalry horses had not been fed or watered in days. The Polish commander ordered his units to split up into small groups and try to reach the Hungarian border at night.
