Overview:

Kaesong, South Korea, 25 June 1950. On 3 May 1949, the North Koreans launched their first open attack across the 38th Parallel in the vicinity of Kaesong, but ROK units repulsed them. Hundreds of small-scale assaults occurred across the parallel during the first half of 1950. The North Koreans concentrated half of their forces on the Uijongbu Corridor, an ancient invasion route that led directly south to Seoul. Kaesong, home of the ROK 12th Regiment was directly in their path. The circle in the center of Kaesong drew small arms immediately as half a mile away, at the railroad station which was in plain view; North Korean soldiers were unloading from a train of perhaps fifteen cars. Some of these soldiers were already advancing toward the center of town encircling forward battalions of the ROK 12th Regiment. (Scenario in PDF format can be found under USER FILES below)
