Overview:
On 15 October, the Germans launched a major effort. For their part, the Russians continued their tactics of 'hugging the enemy;, developed by General Chuikov. They kept as close as possible to the German troops, making the use of artillery and dive bombers impossible to deploy effectively. The staunch resistance of the Russian soldier was communicated by the following radio message, broadcast that day at 1220 hours by a unit of the 416th Regiment, from the Tractor Works housing block: "Have been encircled, ammunition and water available, death before surrender!"Attacker: German (389th Infantry Division)
