Overview:

When day broke after the main Japanese attack, the Americans were not sure of either the Japanese penetration or their own casualties. By noon the situation had come into focus and counterattacks were ordered on parts of the hill. Leading the way to retake the captured positions were two platoons from F Company, 145th RCT. They knew this would not be easy and would take maximum effort.
Attacker: American (Elements of the 145th Regiment, 37 Infantry Divi-sion, and supporting 754th Tank Battalion)
Defender: Japanese (Elements of the Iwasa Unit, 6th Division)

2022-07-02(D) Sam Tyson vs Eric Gerstenberg Japanese winI bungled this scenario from the start, but had good results at the end to eek out a win.
First, I didn't cover the level 2 plateau behind the bunker, thinking I would get blasted. This allowed Eric to have unhindered access to the bunker for CC, but he missed the 2:1 roll. In my next prep fire, I blasted those squads outside the bunker, and we basically repeated the process on turn 2.
I had a brain-lapse and moved my HIPsters a turn too late to have any effect. The one squad that could have made it to level 3 pinned in the gully, and the other one found a hidden wire in the jungle. Basically I had 4.5 squads do nothing for the entire game except fail a poorly timed counter-attack.
Eric charged down the hill on turn 5, knowing he needed to kill the last unit in the Japanese bunker, a striped crew with a FT.
The Japanese mortar helped by pinning most of the attackers in one CA hex of the bunker, and the FT broke 3 squads and stunned the M3A1 in the other CA hex in Final Fire.
Eric was left with enough to break the crew, but could not force them to rout away so he could advance in for bunker control.
2020-09-29(A) Jeff B vs Steve Etzelmueller American winJapanese setup a reverse slope defense that I knew would be problematic to squash. I was actually quite concerned with the possibility of a Japanese assault, and setup my units and forts accordingly. I was also exceptionally wary of HIP Japanese and of his MMGs versus my 6ML troops. All of this made for a very static first Turn where I sat and blasted his PB with my tank and his squad in the outside trench into oblivion. Turns 2 and 3 saw me clear the remaining defenders from Level 2 and capture the PB and a trench. It was only then I noticed in the VC that I would need to capture the remaining reverse slope Japanese trench as well. I had turned the lone Japanese guard in the west berserk during this time as well, and he charged to his death on Turn 3. So Turn 4 saw me finally make my move, immediately losing my tank to a CH from the ATR. This at least provided me some smoke cover, but it would be a pure dice fest along the ridgeline fighting for the trenches and PB. Having exposed his monster concealed stack with my FT fire, and with me having last move, his only option was to man these locations the best he could and hope to withstand my massive American FP. He did not. Quite a boring scenario, and I have yet to find a DFB PTO scenario that I've found to be any good (0/5).
