Overview:
As part of the invasion to capture the southern Marianas Islands, the 2nd Marine Division landed on the southwest coast of Saipan on 15 June. Lt. Gen. Yoshitsugu Saito chose not to expose the bulk of his troops to an American shoreline bombardment, but instead deployed the 43rd Infantry Division and 9th Tank Regiment inland where they could counterattack the Marine beachhead as it formed. The Marines landed under fire but quickly pushed off the beach. Saito took advantage of the relatively level and open terrain to launch a combined-arms attack, headed by Colonel Takashi Goto's 9th Tank Regiment, to smash the Marine position before the Americans could bring their forces to bear against him.Attacker: Japanese (136th Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Company and 4th Company, 9th Tank Regiment)
Defender: American (USMC) (Companies, A & G, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division w/Company Reserve)

2024-02-02 | (D) Louis Langdeau | vs | Wes G | American (USMC) win | First time playing PTO. I deployed a bit too far forward, and Wes was a bit too aggressive with Banzai's. Both of us had some awful luck with malfing weapons, but since Wes needed his tanks way more than I needed my MGs, it was harder on him. After his T4 we realized he didn't have enough squads to make a chance of it, and my reinforcements were about to come on. All in all, an okay scenario that I'd be willing to replay.
2023-12-10 | (A) Klara Kundzicz | vs | Benjamin Steinberg | American (USMC) win (VASL Log) | I lost most of my units because of my stupid Banzai choices and i also lost my tank. I conceded after that because i didnt have enough squad equivelants to fill out the VC. Here is a save file with the aftermath, all information counters were removed for a better view of the battlefield.
2023-06-24 | (D) Ilyas Jalisi | vs | Anonymous | American (USMC) win | It was a hard fought scenario with the Japanese hounding the USMC troops as they attempted to fight a retiring delaying action whilst waiting for the turn 4 reinforcements. A few good defensive fire and close combat roles on the part of the USMC player however managed to swing the game in their favour and on turn 4 after US reinforcements arrived and a Japanese tank was lost to a bazooka the Japanese player conceded.
2022-12-13 | (A) Jack Wilson | vs | Dmitry Klyuykov | Japanese win | Great game. I think my first win with the SK4 Japanese. Dmitry's defense was flawless, IMO. He positioned his BAZ teams so as to deny any approach of my woefully under gunned and under armored tanks. He set up a FS/HMG/9-2 Ldr in a central building that commanded almost all approaches to the VC building. Fortunately for me, I was rolling low like a madman, and he had some untimely high rolls, especially on the last turn when none of his BAZ teams could score a hit. Great fun. ROAR has this as 50-50 balance. But we both agreed it tilts toward the Japanese.
2022-12-13 | (D) Dmitry Klyuykov | vs | Jack Wilson | Japanese win (VASL Log) | Great scenario, as Japanese had 6.5 (of 6 needed) squads after the last turn of the game. Very balanced and very tense. Unfortunately my defense plan didn't work, little bit of luck could save the day, but not this time. Thank you for playing, Jack! |
