Overview:
The Marines had solidly established their presence on Cape Glouchester, secured their initial objectives, and continued to push south and east. A major campaign objective was Hill 660. Confident that Hill 660 would be taken a detachment from the Weapons Company of 7th Marines was sent to cut off any Japanese retreat along a coastal trail. Soon after the sounds of battle died down from Hill 660, the first Japanese scouts were sighted as they tried to rejoin their comrades to the east.Attacker: Japanese (141st Infantry Regiment, 51st Division)
